Biography

From a very young age, Els Faems had a great love for music and, more specifically, the piano.

At the age of six, Els began her piano studies at the music academy J.H. Fiocco in Schaarbeek (Brussels) under the guidance of Raymonde Dries and later Chyou-Lin Luh. Upon completing her studies in 1996, she received the J.H. Fiocco Prize there. She then took lessons with Philipp Nicolai.

At the Royal Conservatory in Brussels, she obtained her master's degree in piano with Boyan Vodenitcharov in 2002. She studied chamber music with Viviane Spanoghe and song accompaniment with Inge Spinette. Internationally, she was highly rated in master classes with Sontraud Speidel, Daniel Pollack, Franco Scala, Laura Richaud and Elisso Virsaladze.

In December 2007, Els won 3rd prize in the 15th 'Concorso Internazionale per giovani musicisti "G. Campochiaro", Pedara 2007' (Italy).

She then continued her studies with Philipp Nicolai.

As a piano teacher in the academy of Schaarbeek, Els in turn passes on her love for (piano) music and wants to inspire young and old.

She performs regularly as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles, at home and abroad.
